I’m not talking about power tools like Craftsman. I’m talking about web-based apps. I was thinking about it and there are several that I use on a daily basis. I wake up in the morning and I check my Gmail and Yahoo email accounts. I then take a look at Google Reader (specifically my Gaming and GTD folders). I’ve been experimenting with Twitter lately, so I usually check TwitterLocal and Twitter next. I’ve been using VitaList as my GTD app of choice, so I then plan my day at work before heading off to the shower. Here’s a list of other Web 2.0 apps I use:

del.icio.us – for managing favorites (my feed here)

Joe’s Goals – for managing goals

LibraryThing – for managing my extensive library (check out my books here)

What tools do you use?

I was reviewing the posts on this blog, the only place on the internet I’ve posted anything since letting my [basicblog] at LifeWithChrist go dormant. I noticed that I’ve mostly written about school and what I do when I’m not in school: play video games.

Honestly, I haven’t written much since quitting the [basicblog]. It doesn’t mean I’ve stopped thinking about other things, just that I haven’t had much time to write them all down. I’m hoping to change that this year.

We’ll see.

If you review my blogs, you’ll notice attempt after failed attempt at consistency. As you can tell from my post the other day about mind mapping, I am trying all kinds of new things in the new year in an attempt at getting better organized. I’ve ordered Tony Buzan’s book The Mind Map Book: How to Use Radiant Thinking to Maximize Your Brain’s Untapped Potential, and it should arrive mid-January. I’ve also started using a little website called Joe’s Goals I learned about through Lifehacker to track some modest goals for the year. Some of the goals I’m tracking are basic things like praying, reading my bible, going to the gym, and writing. In addition to keeping this blog semi-updated, I’m hoping to work on a few writing projects this year: I’ve started work on a pilot script for a one-hour dramatic television series, and would like to write a screenplay and maybe even a few scholarly articles this year as well. My goals aren’t very clearly articulated yet, I’m afraid, but I’m working on it.

My biggest obstacles are perfectionism and procrastination, so I’m trying to develop the disciplines of just doing it and worrying about it later.
